MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH <br />May 31, 2000 <br /> <br /> <br />Board of Health Minutes <br />Transcription completed by Anne Miles Thomas 2 May 31, 2000 <br />The motion to forward Barry Adler and Mel Hurston to the Board of Commissioners for <br />reappointment to a second term was made by Martha Stucker, seconded by Janet <br />Southerland and carried without dissent. <br /> <br />B. Dental and Personal Health Committee <br /> <br />1. Annual Contract Renewals <br /> a. UNC Family Medicine/Physician Coverage <br />The proposed contract includes an increase in time to cover additional needs the <br />department has for communicable disease coverage, protocol consultation, and to <br />increase our continuity of care for patients by enabling a single physician to provide <br />more of the clinical services needed by the department. <br /> <br />The motion to approve the UNC Family Medicine/Physician Coverage contract subject to <br />Commissioner and budget approval was made by Janet Southerland, seconded by <br />Martha Stucker and carried without dissent. <br /> <br /> b. UNC Dental Pediatrics/Resident Coverage <br />This contract covers the services of a pediatric dental resident at a standard per day <br />charge for residents of the dental school. <br /> <br />The motion to approve the UNC Dental Pediatrics/Resident Coverage contract subject to <br />Commissioner and budget approval was made by Martha Stucker, seconded by Lee <br />Werley and carried without dissent. <br /> <br /> c. UNC Dental Ecology/Dental Director <br />This contract covers the services of the Dental Director for FY00-01. There is no <br />increase over the previous year’s contract, however, more specificity has been added to <br />the contract. <br /> <br />Motion to approve the UNC Dental Ecology/Dental Director contract subject to <br />Commissioner and budget approval was made by Janet Southerland, seconded by Barry <br />Adler, and carried without dissent. <br /> <br /> d. UNC Dental Resident Services <br />This contract covers the services of a dental resident for FY00-01. There may be an <br />increase over the previous year’s contract depending on legislative action regarding <br />UNC salaries. <br /> <br />Motion to approve the UNC Resident Services contract subject to Commissioner and <br />budget approval was made by Janet Southerland, seconded by Martha Stucker, and <br />carried without dissent. <br /> <br />C. Executive Committee <br /> <br />1. Budget Hearing Preparation <br />Board of Health members agreed to split attendance at the two public hearings to be <br />held by the Board of County Commissioners and make brief presentation in support of <br />the health department budget request for FY 2000-2001.
