MINUTES
ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH
May 17, 2001
Board of Health Minutes
Transcription completed by V. Anne Miles 5 May 17, 2001
serve as a tool to identify where efforts need to be continued or increased
to achieve positive outcomes. In addition, the easily readable and
understandable report card can be an effective means of communicating
health status to the public and to other health care providers.

The new release date is projected for August or September.

D. Board Sponsored Employee Recognition Event

Last year the Board sponsored an Employee Recognition Breakfast for
health department employees that met established criteria. Twelve
employees were honored at a breakfast attended by awardees, division
directors, and board members in September.

The Board of Health paid for the cost of last year’s breakfast by donations
by each Board member. By unanimous consent, the Board agreed to hold
an Employee Recognition Lunch on September 14, 2001 in conjunction
with the Board of Health workshop session.

E. Budget Public Hearing Preparations

Public Hearing on the budget will be on May 31 at Southern Human
Services in Chapel Hill, and on June 7 in Hillsborough. Board members,
health department clients, and consultants will be addressing the
commissioners regarding needs and concerns of the health department.

V. BOARD COMMENTS

None

VI. ADJOURNMENT

Motion to adjourn was made by Mel Hurston, seconded by Kate Wilder, and
carried without dissent.

The next Board of Health meeting will be held on June 28, 2001 at the Government
Services Center in Hillsborough at 7:30 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Rosemary L.
