Anne Miles 1 April 26, 2001 <br />ORANGE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT: To enhance the quality of life, <br />promote the health, and preserve the environment for all people in the Orange County community. <br /> <br />THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH MET ON April 26, 2001 at the Government Services <br />Center in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br /> <br />BOARD OF HEALTH MEMBERS PRESENT: Jonathan Klein, Chair; Janet Southerland, Vice Chair; <br />Barry Adler, Mel Hurston, Barry Jacobs, Alan Rimer, Martha Stucker, Sharon Van Horn, and Lee <br />Werley. <br /> <br />BOARD OF HEALTH MEMBERS ABSENT: Alice White, Kate Wilder. <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Rosemary Summers, Health Director; Wayne Sherman, Personal Health Services <br />Division Director; Ron Holdway, Environmental Health Services Division Director; Donna King, <br />Health Promotion and Education Services Division Director; Leticia Burns, Administrative <br />Services Division Director; V. Anne Miles, Administrative Assistant. <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Leslie Smith, UNC School of Nursing. <br /> <br />I. CALL TO ORDER AND INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS <br /> <br />The meeting was c alled to order by Dr. Jonathan Klein at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />II. ACTION ITEMS <br /> <br />A. Approval of April 26, 2001 Agenda <br /> <br />Martha Stucker requested that an update on school nurse issues, Public Health Month <br />proclamation, and Orange County Health Report Card be added to the agenda. <br /> <br />Motion to accept the agenda as amended was made by Lee Werley, seconded by Janet <br />Southerland, and carried without dissent. <br /> <br />B. Approval of March 22, 2001 Minutes <br /> <br />Motion to approve the minutes of March 22, 2001 was made by Martha Stucker, <br />seconded by Janet Southerland, and carried without dissent. <br /> <br />C. Change in May Board Meeting Date <br /> <br />The Board of Health’s regular May meeting is scheduled for May 24 at Southern Human <br />Services Center. On that same evening the County Manager is scheduled to present <br />the FY 2001-2002 Budget Request to the Board of County Commissioners. <br /> <br />Department heads are requested to attend the budget presentation, and Board of <br />Health member, Barry Jacobs, would be attending that meeting. Staff has determined <br />that the Southern Human Services Center is available to meet on May 17, one week <br />earlier if the Board desires. <br /> <br />Motion to change the May Board Meeting Date to May 17 was made by Janet <br />Southerland, seconded by Lee Werley, and carried without dissent. <br /> <br />
