MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH <br />July 25, 2002 <br />Board of Health Minutes Transcription completed by V. Anne Miles 4 July 25, 2002 <br /> <br />3. Board Member for Healthy Carolinians State of Health Fall Forum <br /> <br />The Healthy Carolinians group must put together a published State of the <br />County Report as required by the state. Healthy Carolinians need to hold a <br />forum on their work plan because their work plan are the priority areas that <br />were chosen for the State of the County Report. They are in the process of <br />organizing a small group to work on pulling together this report and planning a <br />Fall Forum for presenting that report. <br /> <br />The Fall Forum will be held November 14, 2002, 7:30 am – 9:00 am. Jonathan <br />Klein and Alice White volunteered to serve in planning for the report and forum. <br /> <br />VI. Board Comments/Announcements <br /> <br />A. Volunteer Efforts - Martha Stucker <br /> <br />Two orientations have been held for volunteers so far. Sandy Garrett is the liaison and <br />organizer for volunteer orientations. So far, six volunteer nurses have been trained to <br />help with screenings and immunizations in the community. <br /> <br />The possibility of available grant money to fund volunteer training is also being <br />explored. <br /> <br />B. APS Veterinarian – Rosemary Summers <br /> <br />The veterinarian for the APS shelter and wildlife rehabilitation has not renewed his <br />contract for this year. The wildlife rehabilitation center is not subject to the contract <br />provisions with the county as no county funds are allocated to the wildlife sanctuary. <br />APS does have a veterinarian on staff that will meet the needs of the Orange County <br />Animal Shelter’s program as contracted by the Board of Health. <br /> <br />VII. Adjournment <br /> <br />Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Alan Rimer, seconded by Lee Werley, and <br />carried without dissent. <br /> <br />The next Board of Health meeting will be held on August 22, 2002 at the Government Services <br />Center in Hillsborough, North Carolina at 7:00 PM, if the state budget is passed prior to that <br />date. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Rosemary L.
