Anne Miles 6 June 26, 2003 <br />look at the work we do and have been a valuable resource in attacking some key <br />projects that are difficult to do when engaged in daily activities. <br /> <br />5. Budget Update – The Board of Commissioners approved the continuation of the <br />Community Health Awareness Program from the safety net funding reserved by the <br />Commissioners to address programs that were cut as a result of state budget cuts. <br />We are very pleased with the support for this program and for the Families in Focus <br />intensive home visiting program that needed some additional funding as well. The <br />Commissioners have been very supportive of retaining safety net programs. <br /> <br />V. Board Comments/Announcements <br /> <br />Employee Recognition: Board members were in agreement to continue wit h the staff <br />recognition awards given annually to department staff excelling in service. <br /> <br />Dr. Sandler: Board members expressed a desire to recognize and thank Dr. Sandler for his <br />long years of service and his contribution to the department’s dental program. When a full <br />time staff dentist is hired, Dr. Sandler’s expertise will no longer be needed to supervise the <br />residents and interns that currently staff the dental clinic. <br /> <br />Health Director’s Review: Board members were advised by the Chair that the annual <br />performance review of the Health Director is coming up and they will be receiving the <br />paperwork for their evaluation. <br /> <br />VI. Adjournment <br /> <br />Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Martha Stucker, seconded by Barry Adler, <br />and carried without dissent. <br /> <br />The next Board of Health meeting will be held on July 24, 2003 at the Southern Human Services <br />Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina at 7:00 PM. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Rosemary L.
