MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH <br />December 15, 2005 <br />Board of Health Minutes Transcription completed by Anne Miles Cassell 2 <br /> December 15, 2005 <br /> <br />The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson shall be elected annually at the last <br />regular meeting of the year. A proposed slate of officers for Chair and Vice- <br />Chair will be developed and presented at the regular meeting prior to the <br />election. An ad-hoc or regular committee of the Board as designated by the <br />Chair will develop the proposed slate. Nominations from the floor are also <br />allowed. Each member shall vote by roll call voice vote for Chairperson and <br />for Vice Chairperson on separate motions. In the event of a tie vote, the <br />Board shall continue balloting until the tie is broken. The newly elected <br />officers shall be installed in January and serve for one calendar year.” <br /> <br />The Nominating Committee reported in November that the slate for the coming <br />year as proposed is: Jessica Lee, for Chair <br /> Matthew Vizithum, for Vice-Chair <br /> <br />Alan Rimer called for additional nominations from the floor and there were none. <br /> <br />A roll call voice vote was held for the position of Chair to be filled by Jessica Lee, <br />and the vote was unanimous of those present. <br /> <br />A roll call voice vote was held for the position of Vice-Chair to be filled by <br />Matthew Vizithum, and the vote was unanimous of those present. <br /> <br />C. BOCC Retreat Information Sheet <br /> <br />The Board of Commissioners annually holds a planning retreat to consider <br />priority issues for the coming calendar year. Their retreat is scheduled this year <br />for Friday, January 20, 2006. The Commissioners are also as usual requesting that <br />each Department or Commission complete an informational sheet for their <br />consideration. <br /> <br />Board members agreed to review the proposed informational form and provide <br />feedback via email to the Health Director by January. <br /> <br />V. Informational Items <br /> <br />The following informational items were provided to keep the Board informed about <br />important matters within the Department: <br />• The Veterinarian appointment has been calendared for the BOCC’s December 13 <br />meeting. <br />• Department received notification that we have been awarded continuation <br />funding in the amount of $289,000 for three years beginning July 1, 2006 for <br />Teen Tobacco Prevention Project. The funding is through the NC Health and <br />Wellness Trust.
