MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH <br />April 25, 2007 <br />Board of Health Minutes Transcription completed by Anne Miles Cassell 5 April 25, 2007 <br />need for Karan and Burmese interpreters as well as others in addition to Spanish. <br /> <br />Anissa Vines asked about unspent funds and if they would be able to be carried forward. <br />Rosemary Summers explained that grant funds received at the end of the fiscal year are <br />much easier to carry forward because they are funds given for a specific purpose, otherwise <br />unspent funds return to the General Fund. <br /> <br />c. Legislative Updates <br /> <br />The Board was provided a spreadsheet listing public health-related legislation and status. <br />Rosemary Summers highlighted some of the legislative updates. The funds for statewide <br />health promotion expansion have been cut from the budget. The Public Health Funds/Aids <br />to Counties is an important bill and if passed would come directly to health departments for <br />infrastructure support. <br /> <br />Moses Carey stated that every legislator is acutely aware of the need for Medicare relief and <br />aware that counties need additional revenue sources. <br /> <br />d. Summer Meeting Schedule <br /> <br />Board members were asked to review their summer schedules and let the Chair know if they <br />were planning to be out of town during one of the summer meetings. <br /> <br /> E. Tracking Form Review <br /> <br />There were no additions or changes to the tracking form. <br /> <br />VI. Board Comments/Announcements <br /> <br />Rosemary Summers invited Board members to an all-staff meeting on May 11, 2007 at SHSC. Staff have <br />indicated they would like to be able to meet and talk to Board of Health members. <br /> <br />VII. Adjournment <br /> <br />Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Chris Harlan, seconded by Sharon Freeland, and <br />carried without dissent. <br /> <br />The next Board of Health meeting will be held on May 24, 2007 at the Government Services Center, <br />Hillsborough, North Carolina at 7:00 PM. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Rosemary L.
