MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH <br />April 25, 2007 <br />Board of Health Minutes Transcription completed by Anne Miles Cassell 4 April 25, 2007 <br />consideration on incorporating relevant portions into the Orange County Social Justice Goal was <br />made by Chris Harlan, seconded by Sharon Freeland, and carried without dissent. <br /> <br />B. Budget Public Hearings <br /> <br />Each year the Board has sent delegates to the two public hearings on the budget to speak in <br />support of particular items of importance to the Board for funding in the upcoming year. This <br />year the two public hearings are scheduled for Thursday, May 31st and Monday, June 4th. <br /> <br />Board members discussed areas of emphasis they would like to include in their remarks before <br />the Commissioners this year. Anissa Vines and Chris Harlan volunteered to represent the Board <br />of Health at the public hearings. <br /> <br />Suggested topics of concern are timely service delivery to the public, globalization of health care <br />and the need for interpreters, staffing, salary compression, clinical facilities, and technology, <br />among others. Board members also expressed a desire to thank the Commissioners for past <br />support. <br /> <br />C. Reappointment of Members <br /> <br />Three Board members have terms expiring on June 30, 2007. Jim Stefanadis, pharmacist <br />representative, Tim Carey, physician representative, and Jessica Lee, dentist representative are <br />eligible for reappointment to a second three year term. All have excellent attendance records at <br />meetings. <br /> <br />Motion to submit a letter of recommendation for reappointment of all three members to the <br />Commissioners was made by Sharon Freeland, seconded by Chris Harlan, and carried without <br />dissent. <br /> <br />D. Informational Items <br /> <br />a. Community Assessment Survey <br /> <br />Donna King reported that the team successfully finished the assessment survey and were <br />able to collect 203 surveys. The team was able to survey a broad spectrum of Orange <br />County residents from all areas of the county. The data is currently being pulled together for <br />the Community Assessment Report. <br /> <br />b. Quarterly Financial Report <br /> <br />Letitia Burns presented the quarterly financial report for the third quarter. All divisions have <br />expended less than three-quarters of their budgets. Rosemary Summers explained that <br />typically we do not get a lot of supplemental or grant revenue in the fourth quarter. The <br />family planning funds of $12,050 listed under “Additional Money Received” will go to pay for <br />additional contraception and increased interpreter costs. The department has an increasing
