Pham, (919) 960-3877 <br />PURPOSE: To present the results of the Orange County Women's Agenda Assembly to the <br />Board of County Commissioners and ask the Commissioners to prioritize the issues of the <br />Orange County Women's Agenda as identified by Orange County Women. <br />BACKGROUND: Once every two years the Orange County Commission for Women, in <br />conjunction with North Carolina Women United. (NCWU), hosts the Orange County Women's <br />Agenda Assembly. For approximately the last decade, women's groups in counties across the <br />state have hosted agenda assemblies the year preceding a legislative long-session. Women <br />have prioritized their issues by County and the cumulative results of the Agenda are calculated <br />and presented as the North Carolina Women's Agenda on Women's Advocacy Day. <br />On Thursday October 12, 2006, Orange County women convened at the Southern Human <br />Services Center to decide on the Orange County Women's. Agenda for 2007. The agenda was <br />organized with the assistance of several community partners including. Democracy NC, Planned <br />Parenthood and the Orange County Rape Crisis Center. Over 85 Orange County women <br />attended to express their views on the issues of greatest concern for Orange County . <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br />RECOMMENDATION (S): The Manager recommends that the Board accept the Orange <br />County Women's Agenda. <br />
