ORANGE COUNTY <br />ORANGE UNIFIED TRANSPORTATION BOARD <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: January 17, 2018 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. 8.b. <br />SUBJECT: Discussion About OUTBoard Orientation Materials <br />DEPARTMENT: Planning and Inspections <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: (919) <br />Abigaile Pittman, Transportation /Land <br />Use Planner, 919 - 245 -2567 <br />PURPOSE: Discuss OUTBoard Orientation Materials with Orange County <br />Planning staff and provide any input that the Board might have for internal Staff <br />consideration. <br />BACKGROUND: Planning Staff is working to review and revise the orientation <br />materials for the OUTBoard. The proposal is to bring all information up to date, to <br />add new topics that have arisen over the past several years, and to provide <br />orientation materials that would be most helpful to Board members. Below is the <br />Orientation Agenda topics previously addressed for OUTBoard orientations: <br />1. Introductions <br />The OUTBoard has an assigned Planning staff member to <br />facilitate its meetings. There are thirteen OUTBoard members <br />representing both townships and areas of transportation- related <br />concerns. (Refer to OUTBoard Membership and Contact List.) <br />2. Background and Rules of Procedure for the OUTBoard <br />The OUTBoard was established in 2005 as an advisory board to <br />the Board of County Commissioners. The Board meets once a <br />month (or less) and is guided by adopted rules of procedure. <br />(Refer to 2014 OUTBoard Meeting Schedule; and Orange County <br />Advisory Board Policy (Amended 2 -21 -2012) and OUTBoard <br />Rules of Procedure (Amended 11 -8- 2012.)) <br />3. Brief Overview of Federal Transportation Legislation <br />Transportation Planning in Orange County is guided by federal <br />legislation that requires the state to carry out a continuing, <br />cooperative, and comprehensive statewide multimodal <br />transportation planning process that facilitates the safe and <br />efficient management, operation, and development of surface <br />transportation systems. (Refer to Federal Title 23 and 49 USC and <br />Transportation Planning Regulations.) <br />73 <br />
