Study Area map <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. 7.a. <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: (919) <br />Nishith Trivedi, Transportation Planner, <br />245 -2582 <br />PURPOSE: <br />Receive a presentation on the NC -54 West Corridor Study from Orange County Transportation <br />Planning staff and provide any input that the Board might have for internal Staff consideration. <br />BACKGROUND: The NC -54 corridor from Carrboro to Graham is currently going through a <br />comprehensive analysis and feasible improvements will be identified (refer to Attachment 1). <br />The consultants selected by Durham - Chapel Hill - Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization <br />(DCHC MPO) for this corridor study are: <br />• VHB — local engineering and planning firm <br />• Rose & Associates — market analysis <br />The study team includes- <br />Durham-Chapel Hill - Carrboro Metropolitan <br />Burlington- Graham Metropolitan Planning <br />Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) <br />Organization (BG -MPO) <br />Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization <br />(TARPO) <br />NC Department of Transportation <br />Orange County and Alamance County <br />Town of Carrboro and City of Graham <br />The project is broken down into four phases and is scheduled for completion late 2018 <br />• Phase 1 —Existing Conditions and Market & Economic Assessment -Fall 2017 <br />• Phase 2 — First Community Meeting and Long -Range Forecasts - Early 2018 <br />• Phase 3— Second Community Meeting and Draft Report— Spring 2018 <br />• Phase 4 — Draft Report — Summer 2018, and Final Report — Fall 2018 <br />A website with an interactive map has been created for the project at www.nc54west.com <br />Next Steps <br />• January 23,2018-4-30 pm — 6:30 pm Rigmor House— Community Workshop. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no immediate financial impact associated with this item. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): Staff recommends that the OUTBoard: <br />13 <br />
