In the next two to three months a template for reservations will be added onto
the Bureau's web site. WORLDRES.com would then be available for use by visitors to
make reservations at Orange County accommodations.
Mr. Blake reported he had met with Cal Horton, Chapel Hill Town Manager, regarding
the on- street parking spaces immediately in front of the building. The request for special
metered parking as approved by the Visitors Bureau Board at its August meeting was sent
in writing to Mr. Horton.
OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Woods reported on the distribution and sale of Chapel Hiil/Ocange County Visitors
Bureau publications within Orange County and outside of the county. Mr. Blake
presented a verbal overview of the reciprocal agreement with the Durham and Raleigh
Bureaus outlining the distribution of visitor information in the Triangle. After discussion
by Board Members, Mr. Cazev made a motion to sell visitor guides and other publications
to Oran e Counts businesses (excluding accommodations and attractions and other
visitor industry businesses) at cost and to sell to anyone outside of Orange County for an
amount including cost and mark-u to be determined by Mr. Blake. Mr. Walters
seconded the motion. With all Board Members in agreement the motion was carried.
NEW BUSINESS
Mr. Woods reported on the MedAccom Hotel Program. The program is designed to
assist patients at area hospitals find suitable lodging. The Orange County Lodging
Association is researching the program to better advise local hoteliers in making their
decision on whether the program would be appropriate for their properties.
