Mr_ Woods provided an update on the Regional Branding Campaign designed to promote <br />regional pride of the Triangle area. Scott Maitland, Chair of the Chapel Hill- Carrboro <br />Chamber of Commerce, had been attending the meetings as the representative for Orange <br />County. A handout was provided with additional information regarding the campaign. <br />(Copy of handout attached.) Additional information received on the campaign was to be <br />forwarded to Board Members as it became available. <br />Added to the agenda was Ms. Pat Evans reporting on the Town of Chapel Hill Festival <br />Study. The Chapel Hill Town Council created a committee to study the Apple Chill and <br />FestL l downtown street festivals. After discussion XIs. Evans advised that she would <br />keep the Board abreast of any changes in the Chapel Hill Town Ordinances that would <br />affect street festivals in Chapel Hill. <br />Ms. Evans reported on some proposed changes in the most recent draft of the update to <br />Chapel Hill's Land Use Ordinance and some potential effects it could have on citizens and <br />businesses in Chapel Hill. A public hearing would be scheduled to review the third draft <br />of the ordinance. The date of the public hearing was not available at the time of the <br />Bureau Board Meeting. Additional information would be forthcoming regarding the <br />ordinance. <br />Ms. Evans discussed the issue of a town ordinance regarding the posting of flyers on <br />utility poles in the Chapel Hill downtown area. A public hearing was scheduled at the <br />Chapel Hffi Town Hall that evening (October 16, 2002) referencing the issue. After <br />discussion a motion was made by Mr. Walters for a memo to be drafted by Board Chair <br />Woods on behalf of the Visitors Bureau Board to the Town of Chapel Hill opposing an <br />ordinance allowing the posting of fivers on utility poles in the Chapel Hill downtown area <br />Ms Daucv seconded the motion With all Board Members is agreement the motion was <br />carried. Mr. Woods agreed to prepare a letter that would be sent via e mail to the <br />Chapel Hill Town Council and Town Manager. <br />A grand opening event was anticipated for the end of the calendar year or beginning of <br />newt year. Mr. Woods asked for volunteers to assist staff with planning the event. Mr. <br />Walters and Ms. Sandy Roberts of the UNC Visitors' Center graciously volunteered to <br />serve on the planning committee for the event. <br />Other Matters of the Board and Announcements <br />No other matters or announcements were presented to the Board for consideration. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />With all business of the Board completed, Ms Pat Evans made the motion to adjourn the <br />meeting with a second to the motion by Mr. Walters With all Board Members in favor. <br />the meetina was adiourned at 9:33 a.m. <br />
