Mr. Woods distributed a revised agenda for the meeting. Added to the agenda under <br />"New Business" were throe items that Ms. Pat Evans will report to the Board. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Budget and Finance <br />Mr. Moses Carey, Jr., reported that the current Board packet contained two financial <br />reports: FYE 2001 -2002 and for August of FY 2002. The financial reports were <br />reviewed; expenditures and revenues were both less than projected. With no further <br />discussion the Board accepted the financial reports as presented. <br />Marketing <br />Mr. Lawrence Walters, Marketing Chair, reported that 7,000 copies of the winter <br />promotional brochures, Wonderful Whimsical Winter, were mailed using the Destination <br />3000 database. There is a link from the bureau's website homepage to the website page <br />promoting the promotion. The winter promotion will he advertised in Our State magazine <br />and in the AAA Go magazine. <br />Mr. Walters also reported that the bureau's monthly E newsletter would be sent out on <br />October W. <br />1110 3*01181 "N01S0t71t <br />Mr. Joe Blake provided an update on the new office space and visitors center. An <br />invitation was extended for those present to stay after the board meeting to tour the new <br />facility. Mr. Blake noted that a major portion of the renovations had upgraded the <br />building to make the Visitors Center handicapped accessible as per current ADA <br />guidelines. <br />The furniture for the conference room had been ordered but not delivered; however. The <br />Carolina Inn had graciously loaned banquet furniture to furnish the room until permanent <br />furnishings were received. Mr. Blake also recognized Panera Bread Company for <br />providing the complimentary continental breakfast for the Board Meeting. <br />Mr. Blake shared future plans and ideas for the visitor center that would make the facility <br />more attractive and visitor - friendly. All major changes would be with the approval of <br />Board Members. The pocket park, a joint effort of the town of Chapel Hill and Orange <br />County, located in front of 501 and 503 West Franklin Street, was to be completed as <br />soon as the brick planters were filled with appropriate plants. Plans for signs for the <br />visitor center are being researched and a news release will be forthcoming announcing the <br />opening of the visitor center. <br />
