Budget and Finance <br />Mr. Moses Carey, Jr., called the Board's attention to the May financial report included in <br />the board packet. Mr. Carey provided a general overview of the contents of the document. <br />He also called attention to the occupancy tax report noting that year -end tax receipts were <br />still on track to be down around 7 %. There were no questions from board members <br />regarding the financial reports provided. The June report was expected to be available in <br />September when the county finance department closes the 2001 -2002 fiscal year. <br />Marketing <br />Mr. Lawrence Walters, Marketing Chair, reported that the newly updated Meeting & <br />Event Planning Guide was now available. A copy was distributed to all present. <br />It was announced that preparations for the "Wonderful, Whimsical Winter' promotional <br />campaign had begun. As reported to the board at a previous meeting, the brochure, web <br />site and advertisements would maintain the design from the previous year's campaign. <br />Mr. Walters reported that the "Happenings" Calendar of Events would be distributed in <br />the Chapel Hill Herald in the Sunday, August 23`d edition. <br />DIRECTOR'S REPORT <br />Mr. Joe Blake updated Board Members and guests on the renovations taking place in the <br />space that the Visitors Bureau would relocate to later this year. A floor plan was <br />distributed and reviewed briefly. The Board would be notified of the official date for <br />occupying the new space as soon as available. <br />Mr. Blake distributed a preliminary FY 2001 -2002 Year- End Results report to Board <br />Members and guests reflecting year -end measurable results. He called attention to the <br />lodging perfamanee infornnation that had been taken from the Smith Travel monthly <br />report instead of the Bureau's monthly survey as in years past. <br />Mc Blake reported that the Bureau's 2003 Marketing Plant adopted in June was available <br />on -line in PDT format. A post card would be mailed to industry partners, town and <br />county officials, and other interested people, announcing the website address of the <br />document. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />The Director of the Orange County Economic Development Commission, Dianne Reid, <br />gave an update on plans for the 250 °i Orange County Anniversary celebration.
