ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD~OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: December 4, 2006 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. „~ <br />SUBJECT: Resolution Adjusting the Starting Salaries of the Sheriff and Register of Deeds <br />Positions <br />DEPARTMENT: Personnel PUBLIC HEARING: (YIN) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />Proposed Resolution <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Tyrone Jackson, Personnel Director <br />245-2550 <br />PURPOSE: To adopt a resolution adjusting the starting salaries of the Sheriff and Register of <br />Deeds positions. <br />BACKGROUND: At. the November 15, 2005 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners <br />adopted a resolution giving notice of adjustment in salaries for the Sheriff and Register of <br />Deeds positions.. This resolution established the starting salary for the Sheriff's position as the <br />minimum of Salary Grade 31 in the Orange County Classification and Pay Plan. ~ It established <br />the starting salary for the Register of Deeds position as the minimum of Salary Grade 29 in the <br />Orange. County Classification and Pay Plan. <br />The November 2005 resolution provided that the salaries would not be altered or amended until <br />after the persons elected Sheriff and Register of Deeds in the 2006 election take office. <br />Thereafter, it provided the Board of Commissioners may adjust the starting salary of the <br />candidate elected .considering the years of service and performance and related experience of <br />the person elected. <br />Pursuant to the November 2005 resolution, the attached resolution establishes the starting <br />salaries of the Sheriff and Register of Deeds. The salaries shown are the current salaries for <br />the Sheriff and Register of Deeds. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board adopt the attached <br />resolution effective December 4, 2006. <br />
