L:, Robbsy Commissioners Sim L. <br />£tlnndy Edwin S, Seniors Dwight tf, Bay and Henry 5. 7lelker. tdembers absent: None. <br />The minutes for tF.e meetings held on October 1st and October 8th were reed by the Clerk and <br />approved by the Beard. <br />The foLaedng Deoartment heads gave the ix' October reports of the actSVity of their re reactive <br />departments: <br />Liiss Jessie Tz'onbridgey Rome Demonstration Agent; <br />Frank ifaddrys Dolinouent Tex Collector; <br />^alter TTre any Veterans Service Officorp <br />£. 1,1. Lynchs Clerk of Court; <br />Odell Cleytony Sheritt7 and <br />Ca she Boagsy County Dag ;lnzden. <br />Eft, CaeF.e Hoggsr County Dog Wardens asked the Hoard to have the County Attorney rule on a <br />situation in Checel fi111 involving n dog Which had pat been listed for taxes or vacoineted. Susie <br />Weevers the owner of the dogs had instructed the Dog Warden to vaccinate the dog end list 3t for <br />tsatsy agreeing to Day ell expenses incurred. The Beard requested that the County Attorney reoort <br />to them ]n ter in tF.e day on whet authority the Board had 1n this matter. <br />ESr. D. R. Sink L7om the Lfurphy School area appeared and asked about the tax reduction he find <br />requested et a previous meeting, Efr, Sink was informed that the Heard had not made its tour and <br />that L!r. Sink would be notified of the Hoard's decislon. <br />LSr. 17. E:. E`.eCauley oT Chanel Hill requested that money he had oaid in taxes be refunded to him <br />as he did not own the property on Which he tad paid tares, <br />Uoon motion of Commissioner Seniors seconded by Commissioner Walker and unanimously pessedy it <br />was ordered that Lir. ':~eCauley be relLnded 555.43y the amount en'oneously charged hip for 1954 tares, <br />Upon motion of Coamissfoter Lanlery seconded 69 Commissioner £f ]and and unanlmously oassedy it <br />was ordered that the 1955 taxes of th'. W, L1. GeCauley be reduced by the sum of $57.64y es this sum <br />was erroneously charged him on property owed by someone else. <br />L1rs. Ssllie Whitey Acting Welfare Svoerintendenty presented one blind aid grant for reduction <br />and twc b13nd aid grants for termination due to the deaths of the recipients, <br />Etx, halter Wrenny Civil Defense Directory pre seated a letter 4Om Pennie L. Dania ly Director <br />of Civil Defense in Durham, This letter reaue sted that !,'r, Wrenn notify E{r. Daniel of the facilities <br />available in Orange County to receive the citdzens of Durham in case of an enemy attack, <br />Lir, 7lre nn requested that some money be epprcoriated for C1vi1 Defense user and noon motion of <br />Conmiscioner Copiers seconded by Conrissloner Walker am3 unanimously nassedy L!r. S. td. Gettis wac <br />authorized to tale fx'om the Contingent ilxnd $100,00 for Civil Defense expenses, The expetrlitures <br />are to be made upon ;.;^. ;trenn~s request an3 with Lir. Gatti s' soproval of said reouest, Or. The Clerk was asked to notify these <br />men of their appointment to the Advisor Heard, <br />idr. That the Board of Commissioners F.es detexninsd and does hereby find an3 dec]arv: <br />(e) Thnt en order authorizing ~2y000s000 School Building Bonds of the County of Orange was <br />finally passed on February 20y 1956y r:hich order was nporoved by the vote of a majority of the <br />aw lified voters or said Cwnty- who voted et as election duly called sad held on L'szch 27s 1956. <br />(b) That none of said bonds F.as been issued and fret it is necessary to borrow $250y000 in <br />enticiontion o^ the receipt of the oroceeds of n like amount of said bonds, <br />
