Transit - Oriented Development (TOD) • TOD is an opportunity to move planning and infrastructure in sustainable and equitable ways. • GoTriangle and Triangle J Council of Governments hosted opportunity summit on 2/6. • Work with consultants and stakeholders is underway to further analyze joint development opportunities. Public Involvement • GoTriangle hosted a very successful visioning workshop at the Hayti Heritage Center on 1/16. • Due to inclement weather, Chapel Hill workshop will be rescheduled with details to come. • GoTriangle public involvement team continues to track and respond to stakeholder inquiries in accordance with the Public Involvement Plan. Questions Commissioner Marcoplos referred to the funding and contingency page, and said there is $102.5 million from other sources, which is 4 %. Matthew Clark said it is 4% of the overall budget for the capital costs of the project. Commissioner Marcoplos said he thought it would be 1.5 %, which is what the outside agencies said. Matthew Clark said that does not just include private donations. He said he has pie chart that he will be handing out, but the best way to think about it is as a whole pie. He said if one takes 50% out of it, which is about $1.238 billion, there is $1.238 billion left. He said $738.4 million is the Durham County share, and $148.5 million is the Orange County share, and roughly $247 million is the State share, leaving $102.5 million to come from other sources. He said these other sources include what Commissioner Marcoplos mentioned, as well as other things, like joint development. Commissioner Marcoplos asked if there is a formal process for the 1.5 %, which was the community collaborative effort. Matthew Clark said there is now a non - profit organization, called GoTransit Partners, has been formed. He said he is not the best person to explain this to the Board, as this non- profit has a separate Board of Directors, and is separate from GoTriangle. He said GoTriangles's General Counsel would be the best person to speak to, and he is happy to connect the BOCC to her. Commissioner McKee referred to the acquisition of the maintenance facility, and asked if there is a timeline for this process. Matthew Clark said he would get back to the BOCC with correct information. He said property acquisition, especially in the case of eminent domain, is always difficult. He said GoTriangle wants to reserve the use of eminent domain as the last resort, and is working with the property owners to come up with a solution. He said he hopes all will be acquired, annexed, and rezoned in a timely fashion and get it before the Durham Planning Commission some time in the September 2018 time frame. Commissioner McKee said he is an employee of Summit Engineering, who is a subcontractor to this project.
