The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center <br />also offers recycling and disposal of electronic <br />waste, household hazardous waste, scrap tires, and <br />appliances free of charge. <br />Este Characterization Stuff <br />In January 2016, the City completed a waste <br />characterization study, which found that <br />approximately 66% of the waste stream from single <br />family residential homes could be diverted. Of this, <br />Durham is committed to reducing waste by <br />encouraging reuse. For example, the City has a <br />swap shop where residents can drop off reusable <br />items and take away those items that they may <br />be able to use. In 2017, the City partnered with <br />Durham County and Keep Durham Beautiful to <br />host the first annual Durham ReUse Rodeo - a <br />one -stop drop off for donating and recycling <br />unwanted items.
