2. AGENCY INFORMATION (Be Very Brief and Concise) <br />Please provide the following information about your agency (2 pages OR LESS): <br />a) Years in Operation, Date of Incorporation (Month/Year): 14 yrs, 12/2002 <br />b) Agency's Purpose /Mission (no more than a few sentences): <br />Inspiring people to develop a positive lifelong connection with the natural world & <br />encouraging active engagement in conservation. We accomplish this mission through a <br />community oriented approach to nature education, leadership development and <br />conservation science. <br />c) Types of Services the Agency Provides (bullet format): <br />• Outdoor education Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer week -long and day - <br />camps <br />• Outdoor afterschool programs at elementary schools, and at our Durham <br />location <br />• Counselor -in- Training and Outdoor Leadership program for teens <br />• Homeschool programs, ages 5 -17 <br />• Community programs using science experts to gather data on species <br />diversity in the Piedmont. <br />• Community partnerships offering nature education, earthskills and community <br />building. <br />• Internships in administration, education and conservation <br />• Family nature programs including camping and camping skills learning <br />• Field trips and at- school programs from elementary to college age <br />• Scholarships to help underserved attend programs <br />• Restore and enhance wildlife habitat in local area, community backyards and <br />schoolyards <br />• Connect citizens to wildlife needs and conservation projects <br />• Volunteer opportunities in education, administration, grounds maintenance, <br />programming, marketing, development, animal care, conservation, and citizen <br />science projects <br />• Volunteer run wildlife hotline referring citizens with wildlife issues to the <br />appropriate source of care, humane removal, or advice <br />• Participate in statewide box turtle project collaborating with other scientists and <br />institutions to study populations and habits.
