Orange Water and Sewer Authority <br />A public, non-profit agency providing water, sewer and reclaimed water services <br />to the Carrboro- Chapel Hill community <br />NEWSRELEASE August 27, 2015 <br />Mary Tiger is OWASA's new Sustainability Manager; <br />Mary Tiger began work as OWASA's new Sustainability Manager on Monday, <br />August 24th. Her responsibilities include continuing to develop and improve <br />OWASA's strategies and programs for sustainable use of resources and <br />environmental protection. <br />The OWASA Board's Strategic Plan values "embracing the principles of <br />environmental, social, and economic sustainability. We strive to make the <br />highest and best use of our local water resources and to promote <br />conservation of water, energy, and other natural resources." Strategic Plan <br />initiatives related to sustainability include affordability outreach and preparing <br />energy management and water conservation plans. <br />Before joining OWASA, Ms. Tiger served as Chief Operating Officer and a <br />Senior Project Director at the Univ. of North Carolina's Environmental Finance <br />Center for six years. She has also worked as an intern with Charlotte Water <br />and as Utility Conservation Coordinator for the City of Loveland, Colorado. <br />Mary earned a Master's degree in Public Administration from UNC in 2009. <br />When not busy playing Legos with her five -year old daughter or gardening <br />with her husband, Mary enjoys learning to play the violin, dancing and hiking. <br />"Mary Tiger has excellent analytical, communication and management skills in <br />addition to her strong knowledge of water resources and sustainability <br />concepts, and we are delighted that she has joined the OWASA team," said <br />Ed Kerwin, OWASA's Executive Director. <br />Mary Tiger, Sustainability Manager, 919- 537 -4241 or mtierowasa.orq <br />
