ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: October 17, 2006 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. (() - 4 <br />SUBJECT: bounty Energy Conservation Efforts <br />DEPARTMENT: Public Works, Manager's <br />Office (Energy Conservation <br />Team) <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />Power Point Presentation Handouts <br />Draft Energy Conservation Action Plan <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Wayne Fenton, Assistant Public Works <br />Director, 919-245-2628 <br />Wilbert McAdoo, Public Works Director, <br />919-245-2625 <br />PURPOSE: To receive a report concerning the County's energy conservation activities to date <br />and proposed action plan items during 2006/2007. <br />BACKGROUND: In keeping with the Orange County Environmental Responsibility goal and the <br />Board of County Commissioners' direction, Energy Conservation, Fuel Conservation and Water <br />Conservation policies were adopted by the Board in December 2005. An Energy Conservation <br />Team was established in February 2006 to lead and coordinate the County's energy <br />conservation efforts. Information is attached regarding the progress of these efforts and staff <br />will provide a presentation and additional information at the meeting. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no direct financial impact related to receiving the report. The <br />implementation plan references items with associated costs, but no action is being requested at <br />this time. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive the report on <br />County energy conservation measures and the Draft Energy Conservation Action Plan and <br />provide comments, direction or questions to County staff. <br />
