Proposed Charge <br />^ To represent organizational and community interest that will assist and support various phases of the <br />design process including needs assessment, programming, and schematic design (which may entail <br />~a charette process). <br />^ To provide input and assistance as needed to help formulate a design that effectively incorporates <br />and coordinates the essential functions of the Animal Services Department-namely, animal <br />sheltering, care and placement; animal control including direct customer contact as well as field <br />. services; and volunteer involvement and general administration. <br />^ To provide input and assistance as needed to formulate a design that meets the needs of an open <br />admission public shelter with a commitment to pursue the placement of animals that are healthy and <br />behaviorally sound, alongside a progressive outreach. program to reduce pet overpopulation. <br />^ To provide input and assistance as needed to formulate a design that has a positive and attractive <br />presence that promotes public contact and. education, contributes to the health and well being of <br />adoptable animals, and thus strives to facilitate increased adoptions and responsible pet ownership. <br />^ To recommend a final plan for the animal services facility to the County Commissioners for approval <br />prior to the bidding of the project. <br />^ To assist in planning an event celebrating the ground breaking and eventual opening of the County's <br />new animal services facility. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider approving the charge,. composition and appointments to Animal <br />Shelter Design Committee. <br />
