Affordable Housing Advisory Board <br />Minutes of November 8, 2011 <br />Members Present: Patsy Barbee, Diane Beecham, Anna MacDonald Dobbs, Martha Hoylman, <br />Rashii Purefoy, Nannie Richmond, and James Stroud <br />Members Absent: Alex Babbitt, Lynda Baker and Jonzella Bailey- Pridham, Mark Johnson <br />Staff Present: Roxanne W. Reynolds <br />Welcome /Introduction <br />Patsy Barbee welcomed everyone to the meeting. <br />Public Comments <br />Board members agreed to send a card of condolences to the family of Artie Franklin. <br />Minutes <br />Diane Beecham made a motion to approve the minutes of October 11, 2011 meeting and Martha <br />Hoylman seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. <br />BOCC Annual Planning Retreat Input <br />A copy of the Orange County Boards and Commission Input and Accomplishment Form was <br />distributed to AHAB. This information is incorporated as an attachment to the minutes. <br />Board members briefly discussed the following concerns /issues to address with the <br />Commissioners. <br />• The interest in more information regarding the process to development a new bond <br />referendum; <br />• The provision of affordable housing in Northern Orange County; and <br />• A forum to educate elected officials /developers regarding affordable housing. <br />Annual Calendar <br />The Advisory Board discussed and reviewed the Draft 2012 Calendar Topics. This information is <br />incorporated as an attachment to the minutes. <br />These are the following items that the board was interested in including in the calendar. <br />• Provide information regarding supportive housing for special populations. <br />• Include a page with information regarding the Town of Chapel Hill Housing Department. <br />• Acquire more information regarding the August page of the 2012 Calendar- Building <br />Integrated Communities. <br />The board agreed to e -mail Tara Fikes with additional input related to the calendar. <br />Communication Plan <br />Anna MacDonald Dobbs reported that Maria Comello, PR Professor at UNC- School of <br />Journalism, would have some openings in the fall to assist with the research and development of <br />the PR campaign. Anna stated that she would follow -up with Comello regarding the process. <br />This information would be available at the next meeting. <br />
