4 <br />Sheriff Department <br />7. The Sheriff's Department recently received notification of a Community Oriented Policing <br />Services (COPS) technology grant. The grant award totals $98,723. Of this amount, the <br />Town of Hillsborough will receive $19,745 and the Sheriff's Department will receive the <br />remaining $78,978. There is no County match required for receipt of the funds. The Sheriff <br />plans to use the County's portion of the grant funds to purchase fingerprint systems and <br />mobile laptops. The attached Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Technology <br />Grant Project Ordinance allows for receipt of the funds. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above. <br />RECOMMENDATION (S): The Manager recommends that the Board of County Commissioners <br />approve the attached budget and grant project ordinance amendments. <br />
