Affordable Housing Advisory Board <br />Minutes of April 12, 2011 <br />Members Present: Jonzella Bailey- Pridham, Diane Beecham, Mark Johnson, Rashii Purefoy, Nannie <br />Richmond, Jabrina Robinson and James Stroud <br />Members Absent: Alex Babbitt, Lynda Baker, Patsy Barbee and Martha Hoylman <br />Staff Present: Tara L. Fikes, Roxanne W. Reynolds <br />Guest: Megan Wooley, Town of Chapel Hill Planning Department <br />Welcome/Introduction <br />Jabrina Robinson chaired the meeting due to the absence of Chair Patsy Barbee and Co -Chair Lynda <br />Baker. She asked for a brief introduction for the benefit of the new members and guest. <br />Public Comments <br />None <br />Chanel Hill Affordable Housine Outreach Session <br />Megan Wooley, Town of Chapel Hill facilitated the outreach session for the Chapel Hill Affordable <br />Housing Strategy. The purpose of this strategy is to build a more comprehensive understanding of the <br />affordable housing system in Chapel Hill. The agenda for the session is incorporated as an attachment to <br />the minutes. After much discussion, Megan stated that a one page strategy report would be developed <br />based on input received from the outreach sessions. Fikes requested a copy of this report to distribute to <br />board members. <br />Minutes <br />James Stroud made a motion to approve the minutes of the March 8, 2011 meeting and Rashii Purefoy <br />seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. <br />Spring Bus Tour <br />The Advisory Board discussed scheduling another bus trip for new members to visit affordable housing <br />projects in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Hillsborough and unincorporated areas. The members agreed to <br />schedule the tour on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 9:30 — 1pm. <br />Report of the Chair <br />None <br />Department Report <br />Tara Fikes provided the following information. <br />• Fikes stated that Jabrina Robinson's second term on the Advisory Board would be completed as <br />of June 30, 2011. The names of Patsy Barbee, Mark Johnson and Nannie Richmond will need to <br />be submitted to the Board of County Commissioners for reappointment if they are still interested <br />in serving another term. <br />• The Eno Haven Apartments Open House will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011. <br />• Fikes reported that she had received information from several professional groups regarding the <br />federal budget cuts for 2011. She is waiting for an official notice from HUD regarding the <br />allocations of funds for the department. <br />• Fikes mentioned that she and the Staff Attorney attended a foreclosure hearing regarding Whitted <br />Forest Apartments. The owner is interested in selling the property to a non -profit group. <br />• The May 10, 2011 meeting will be held at the Richard E. Whitted Building in Hillsborough. <br />Other Business <br />James Stroud made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Nannie Richmond seconded the motion.
