Affordable Housing Advisory Board <br />Minutes of Tuesday, August 26, 2014 <br />Members Present: Diane Beecham, Nannie Richmond, Jonzella Bailey- Pridham, Patsy Barbee <br />and Tammy Jacobs <br />Members Absent: Vanessa Soleil, Sully Jaffer, and Arthur Sprinczeles, Andrew Shannon <br />Staff Present: James Davis and Crystal Coble <br />Welcome /Introduction <br />Chair Pasty Barbee called the meeting to order. <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Tammy Jacobs made a motion to approve the minutes for June 10, 2014 and Diane Beecham <br />seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously. <br />Department Report /County Report <br />New Member Applicants <br />James Davis shared with the board three new applicant applications for the board to review, <br />Brian Finch, Tracey Wooten, and Noah Oswald. The board decided to have the staff email the <br />applicants and explain the approval process would take place in October. <br />Resignations <br />James Davis circulated a copy of the advisory board guidelines. The resignation of James Stroud <br />from the AHAB was discussed for clarification purposes. James Davis informed the board that <br />there was a housing coalition that was that based in Chapel Hill and that when the Clearing <br />House was shared with them there was a memo of concern that was circulated. That memo is <br />attached to these minutes. James also shared that Community Empowerment Fund currently has <br />in place resource network that is very similar to the Clearing House Network. It was confirmed <br />that Community Empowerment Fund was a non - profit organization that the AHAB reviewed <br />during the grant application review meeting in March 2014. Crystal Coble circulated the CEF <br />Housing Access Assistance flyer to aid the AHAB board in understand what it is CEF does. <br />Pasty Barbee proposed the question of what the group is going to do next in regards to <br />continually supporting the Clearing House Network or putting the boards efforts behinds the <br />CEF's program. Tammy Jacobs proposed the question of what can the AHAB board do? Diane <br />Beecham suggested partnering with them. The board tasked the staff with getting CEF's data in <br />regards to the people that they serve before deciding to partner with CEF or not. Tammy stated <br />it would be plausible for the AHAB board go forth with the Clearing Housing Network even <br />though CEF already has a similar assistance program, because the demographic reached would <br />
