Advisory Board on Aging <br />Board Meeting July 11, 2017 <br />Introductions and Announcements <br />Review Domains <br />Each group introduced main issues, outcomes, and needs from advisory board <br />Six domains will have ongoing work groups- work groups will meet quarterly <br />An advisory board member will be a liaison in order to represent domain on board <br />Outdoor Spaces & Building- Jenny Womack <br />• Main issues <br />• Understanding of who plans, creates, and develops outdoor spaces <br />• Better communication to inform older adults about how public spaces are made <br />available — is the public spaces designed with intentional decision to include older <br />adults in planning <br />• Usability of natural spaces <br />Hopeful outcomes <br />• Increase availability and accessibility of natural spaces by older adults (for both <br />mobile and immobile residents) <br />• Create and implement county standards for outdoor spaces <br />How Advisory board may contribute <br />• Appoint representative from advisory board to be represent on-Intergovernmental <br />board, (name ?) <br />• Facilitate collaboration of public and private spaces <br />Housing- Ryan Lavalley <br />• 2 subgroups with focus on housing repair and affordable housing <br />• New Housing Director- Sheryl Hampton <br />• Main issues <br />• Need to modify/ create affordable housing, modify /repair existing housing <br />• Assist coordination of housing organization repairs <br />• Informing community about housing inspectors <br />Hopeful outcomes <br />o Collaboration with housing repair agencies will become separate workgroup <br />facilitated by Lavalley <br />• Increase affordable senior housing, spread out throughout county <br />• Inter- government housing committee to target specific policies <br />• Increase mental health services of long -term care facilities <br />How board may contribute <br />• Hire Housing specialist of Housing Department <br />• Develop partnerships to ensure affordable senior housing <br />
