Community Conservation Assistance Program (CLAP) <br />G. Hughes discussed the following CCAP Contracts: <br />502 - Orange County Schools /Cameron Park Elementary: Rain Garden & <br />Critical Area Seeding. Corrected contract amount $2,332. M. Shambley moved to <br />approve; K. McAdams seconded. <br />503 — Sim Efland Heirs: Well Closure. Corrected contract amount of $1,500. <br />M. Shambley moved to approve; K. McAdams seconded. <br />504 — Stanley Hughes: Well Closure $750. M. Shambley moved to approve; K. <br />McAdams seconded. <br />505 — Hsieh Showchein: Well Closure $375. M. Shambley moved to approve, <br />K. McAdams seconded. <br />506 - Town of Hillsborough: Riparian buffer /critical area. Corrected contract <br />amount $1,636. M. Shambley moved to approve; K. McAdams seconded. <br />CCAP Request for Payment <br />501 — Alethea Burt — Well Closure $650. K. McAdams moved to approve; M. <br />Shambley seconded. <br />G. Hughes updated the Board on new VAD applications, acreage, etc. Gail also <br />reported that 45 VAD signs have been ordered and will hopefully be placed on <br />VAD farms in the upcoming months. <br />Educational Update <br />➢ L. Pope and G. Hughes reported on the October 2 & 3 "Farm To Table" DEAPR <br />event held at the Blackwood Farm. Event was expanded to a two day event <br />reaching over 400+ Orange County & Chapel Hill City Schools. "Wetlands are <br />Wonderful!" contest presentations were made to all 4th grade students. <br />➢ G. Hughes and L. Pope worked two days at the Soil & Water Conservation State <br />Fair Booth. They worked to set up the booth at Fair; a second day was spent <br />making presentations to local adults and students visiting the fair. <br />➢ L. Pope updated the Board on the number of courses and hours acquired towards <br />her NC Environmental Education Certification. Lisa requested permission to <br />attend a free Project WILD workshop in Elkin on November 5. C. Parker move <br />to pay the $77.97 hotel cost for a one night stay along with gas mileage <br />reimbursement from the Travel Expenses account until exhausted, then use <br />Matching Grant Funds; R. Tate seconded. <br />➢ G. Hughes and L. Pope presented "Wetlands are Wonderful!" presentations at <br />Gravelly Hill Middle and Stanback Middle in October as 7 t grade students <br />attended Orange SWCD's Annual Earth Walk Event. <br />
