Franklin St, Suite 106, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 (919) 968-2287 <br />Board of County Commissioner's Special Presentation: <br />Animal Sheltering-Operating Practices and Philosophies <br />September 19Th, 2006 <br />Biography of Featured Speaker: <br />Ms. Kate Pu/len <br />Kate Pullen joined the staff of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to <br />Animals (RSPCA) in November of 2005 with the specific job of assisting the Louisiana <br />SPCA recover from the effects of hum°cane Katrina, <br />Kate has over 15 years of shelter experience, She was the Director of the Humane <br />Society of Baltimore County from 1990 to 1992, the Director of The Animal Welfare <br />League of Alexandria, Virginia, from 1993-2000, and the Director of Animal Sheltering <br />Issues for The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) from 2000 until the fall of <br />2005 when she joined the staff of the RSPCA. <br />sa <br />Kate was a principal site coordinator for the shelter and animal services study that Orange <br />County commissioned with HSUS. This was one of the many studies done under the HSUS <br />Animal Services Consultation during her years with that organization. <br />Kate is a sought after speaker/advisor and expert on shelter operations, board operations, <br />and, strategic development. She has provided extensive classes on a variety of topics to <br />the animal welfare industry„ <br />Kate has a degree in Business Administration and currently Uves in New Orleans, Louisiana. <br />
