Qrange County Animal Services Sheltering Practices and Philosophies 2$
surgery rates, $2.00 from vaccination rates. They do not require contractual
obligations from any other organizations.
Starting the clinic involved the typical delays of a new business, but few
difficulties otherwise. The support of the Humane Alliance was smooth, and area
vets, while viewing the clinic as competition at first, now recognize that the clinic
involves many pet owners that would not be visiting any vet otherwise, and
sterilization surgeries are not a major part of a standard veterinary clinic's
business. The Forsyth Spay/Neuter Clinic offers vaccinations to pet owners daily
from 9:30 to Noon, and emphasizes routine vet care to their clients, who must
seek this from other area vets.
The clinic depends on veterinarians who can specialize in surgeries, since
animals are typically on the table only 20 minutes -this made obtaining the vets
slightly difficult, since these are not typical requirements of veterinarians. Ms.
Evans indicated that it helped to find vets who supported the concept and goals.
The clinic appears to be well-accepted and supported throughout the community,
and by the accounts of Ms. Evans, has "done wonders" for the overpopulation
problem and the community in general.
Further programs within Forsyth County
(linked from Forsyth County Animal Control's website)
Friends of the Shelter
http://www forsythshelterfriends.orq/index.htm
Animal Adoption & Rescue Foundation
http://www.aarfanimals.org/
Fur-Ever Friends Adoption & Outreach Center
http://www.fu reve rfriend snc. o rg/
4 Paws Pet Foundation
There does not appear to be a website for this organization, but some
information is available on their page on Petfinder
(http //www.petfinder.org/shelters/NC151.html).
Lassie Come Home - NC
http://www.lassiecomeh ome nc. orq/
