V. Minutes Approval <br />XXXX made a motion to accept the Minutes for the March 2016 and XXX seconded the motion <br />which passed unanimously. XXX made a motion to accept the May 2016 Minutes. XXX <br />seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br />VI. County Updates <br />Alicia Jones provided update on the county ADA assessments and stated that assessments are <br />complete. The Whitted building is the first building slated for improvements. <br />VII. Subcommittee Updates <br />A. Diversity Matters: Rollin Russell put forth "Our Muslim Neighbors" as a focus for <br />the Community Read and the 2017 Human Relations Month. He is recommending the <br />book "No god but God" by Reza Aslan for the 2017 Community Read. <br />B. Community Justice: No report. <br />VII. Other Business /Announcements <br />Ms. Spencer - Horsley informed the commission that our FHAP is the recipient of a <br />$15,000 grant from HUD. These additional funds will be used for outreach and <br />brochures /information in other languages regarding fair housing education. <br />She also informed the Commission that the BOCC would meet the next night for FY 17 <br />budget approval and that the resources for the HRC would remain relatively the same. <br />HRC members discussed outside groups /organization that request support from the HRC <br />and what should the policy be, Chapel Hill, particularly in relation to the BOCC. This <br />discussion was in follow up to two presentations, Campaign for Racial Equity in our <br />Schools and the other regarding the police and community relations. <br />HRC members discussed the policy and procedures for removal of members that exceed <br />the limit of absences for meetings. <br />The members agreed to invite persons interested in serving on the HRC to the August <br />meeting. <br />VIII.
