The M.A,P. Steering Committee held its 5~" Meeting on August 24, 2006 and recommended the
BOCC approve the MAP report outline, the MAP theme "Developing Aging-Friendly
Communities in Orange", the development of a Orange County bill of rights for older persons,
and preliminary goals, objectives and strategies (Attachments-#2, #3, and #4).
After BOCC review and approval of MAP report outline (including theme, bill of rights) and
the preliminary goals, objectives and strategies, the MAP Steering Committee (in partnership
with the Aging Advisory Board) will hold public presentation meetings during September and
October. At the end of the public comment period, the MAP Steering Committee will meet to
review all public comments for MAP report changes. The final MAP report will be submitted to
the BOCC on November 14 far approval.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with receiving the MAP update
and preliminary goals and objectives approval.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board accept the update as
information and consider approval of the proposed report outline, including the theme statement,
the Bill of Rights for Older Persons and the preliminary goals, objectives and strategies for
2007-11 to receive public comment.
