Hoke called the meeting to order at 6:30. <br /> II. Murray read the memo she sent to the Orange County Commissioners earlier today, <br /> informing them that OCACis no longer on probationary statuswith the North Carolina Arts <br /> Council. <br /> III. Friend moved, Nissler seconded to approve the July,2017 minutes. Motion passed. <br /> IV. Board Member Discussion: <br /> • M urray announced that she will soon be sending a skills assessment survey to board <br /> members. <br /> • We still have two open seats on our board. Board members are strongly <br /> encouraged to help identify candidatesto fill these positions. 90ecial emphasis <br /> should be placed on diversity and the performing arts. <br /> • Murray asked board membersto consider volunteering to serve asVice-Chair. <br /> Please contact Katie if you are willing. <br /> V. Director's Fbport <br /> • All 2017 grant applicants have been notified of their selection/non-selection. <br /> • SWETHEDATE The North Carolina Arts Council and OCACwill hold ajoint press <br /> conference on October 5,2017 at 6:00 to announce the very positive results of the <br /> Arts and Economic Prosperity survey. The press conference will be held at Leland <br /> Little Auction House, 620 Cornerstone Drive, Hillsborough, NC <br /> • Plans for the Rein Air event in October are going well. Board members are <br /> encouraged to consider serving as a host home to out of town artists. <br /> • The unveiling of the Cold Park Bee Hotel will be held on Saturday, November 4cn <br /> time TBD. <br /> • More than 50 submissionswere received in response to the Carolina Inn's call. <br /> Fbgrettably, none of the entries were acceptable to the Inn. Murray will put out <br /> another call with ashift in focus toward UNCand more details about budget, display <br /> space,etc. <br />
