V. Director's Report <br /> • Thanks to Chris Kubica, a Google calendar has been setup. Murray will send the link <br /> to the board. Board members are encouraged to subscribe <br /> • Grant checks were presented at the October County Commissioners meeting. <br /> Thanks to Tim and Delia for attending. <br /> • Thanks to all the Board members who attended the "State of the Arts In Orange <br /> County" event on October 5th. We had excellent attendance by both local and state <br /> officials and area arts organizations. <br /> • Murray continues to work with the ad hoc Cultural Arts Group on exploring the <br /> feasibility of an arts center for Orange County. <br /> • Murraywill be conducting aseriesof listening sessionswith awide variety of <br /> community members, local officialsand artists. 9iewill soon be sending out a <br /> schedule. Board members are asked to sign up for a least one session, preferably <br /> not in your area of expertise. <br /> • There has been no response from the Carolina Inn regarding the additional 20 <br /> pieces of art were presented for review. <br /> • Pans for the Rein Air Paint-Out are going well. Thirty-two artists have registered <br /> with more anticipated. Landscape artist .John Beerman will jury the entries at <br /> 5:00p.m. on Friday, October 20th followed by a reception and sale at 6:00 at the <br /> Hillsborough Arts Council gallery. Board members are encouraged to attend. <br /> • Murray announced that she has received mostly positive feedback regarding her <br /> arts advocacy article "Election 2017: The Arts Vote" in which incumbents and <br /> candidateswere asked their view on the relevancy of the artsto their respective <br /> communities. Mayer asked the Board for a vote of confidence in support of <br /> Murray's proactive canvassing of the candidates for office regarding their position <br /> on the arts in the community. The Board approved unanimously. <br /> M. Grant SAboommittee Update: <br /> • In follow-up to the August decision to form a subcommittee to review our grant <br /> process, Murray, ,brdy and Mayer met in August but has not met since. M urray wi I I <br /> establish a meeting date and will distribute the minutes of the August meeting to <br /> the Board. <br /> VII. Liaison Fbports: <br /> • Hoke: Visitor's Bureau—The Visitor's Bureau is currently focused on the study <br /> performed by an outside consulting firm on the creation of an amateur sports <br /> facility in Orange County that would draw overnight visitors. <br /> • Friend: Hillsborough Arts Council—The Hillsborough Arts Council isworkingon <br /> many of the same issues as OC'AG We are looking to establish aboard development <br /> committee and to update HAC's strategic plan.
