MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY NURSING HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING <br />Nov. 1, 2016 <br />The meeting was called to order by Chair, Teri Driscoll, at 5:30 pm. <br />The following members were present: Teri Driscoll, Chair, Sandra Nash, Vibeke Talley, Jerry <br />Schreiber, Ed Flowers, Glenda Floyd, Susie Deter, Jerry Gregory, Dr. Carol Kelly, Mary Fraser, <br />Dept. of Aging and Autumn Pittman, Ombudsman. Martha Bell, Jackie Podger and Molly Stein <br />were excused. <br />Yvonne Mendenhall from the Adult Care CAC in Orange County gave a report. She explained <br />the "Smile Surprises" project for people in long term care. Small gifts were taken to the <br />facilities and the personnel were very favorable for their use. They are looking for volunteers to <br />get involved, including outside persons, who might assist. <br />The minutes of the September 6, 2016 meeting was approved. There was a question as to <br />whether the minutes would be on the website. <br />Report of Mary Fraser, DOA : <br />The Long Term Care Collaborative has not decided on a special emphasis for 2017. The Master <br />Aging Plan is being evaluated and studied in many areas of interest with work groups beginning <br />in Jan. An invitation to join one of these groups was offered. Mary passed out a new form on <br />Housing and Employment and CAC members were asked to fill it out. <br />Resort of Autumn Pittman. Ombudsman: <br />There were 3 forms that CAC members needed to sign for Triangle J. They consisted of a <br />photography consent form, a conflict of interest form and a confidentiality form. <br />She gave a report about the Leadership Meeting which was held on Sept. 28t ". Carmelita <br />Carhoff, an Ombudsman from Durham County, will be retiring next month. Dr. Carol Kelly and <br />Jackie Podger have already completed their training at Triangle J and are ready for assignments. <br />There are new state policies that will become available after the first of the year and will be <br />explained at a later date. <br />
