MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY NURSING HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING <br />July 5, 2016 <br />The meeting was called to order by Chair, Teri Driscoll, at 5:30 pm. <br />The following members were present: Teri Driscoll, Chair, Sandra Nash, Vibeke Talley, Susie Deter, Jerry <br />Schreiber, Jerry Gregory, Molly Stein, Martha Bell, Ed Flowers, Mary Fraser, Dept. of Aging and Carolyn <br />Pennington, Ombudsman. Glenda Floyd was excused. <br />Jackie Podger was introduced as a potential new member. <br />The minutes of the May 3, 2016 meeting was approved. <br />Site visit reports for Carol Woods and Signature were approved; Site visit report for Brookshire was approved as <br />revised with the deletion of information on call bells; Carolina Pointe site visit was accepted with the deletion of <br />information about seat belts, restraints and information on moving in and out of room. <br />Report of Mary Fraser, DOA : <br />Direct Care Awards in May was a huge success. Update was given on the Dementia Friendly Orange County. <br />Aug. 9 there will be a Workshop for Caregivers at the Friday Center -cost $10.00. <br />There are various Focus groups being held about the next five year plan- 2017 - 2022 -for Orange County. <br />The Dept. of Aging joined the Age Friendly Community Group, a worldwide organization. <br />Report of Carolyn Pennington, Ombudsman: <br />A new Ombudsman will be hired soon. New rules for CAC's will be coming soon from the State. <br />New Business: <br />The Penalty Review Committee is being revised. The SHIIP Program is being reviewed to be cut by 100% of its <br />financing. <br />Decision on Perspective New Member: 100% in favor of Jackie Podger joining our committee. Teri will advise <br />Thom Freeman who will get it placed on the calendar for approval. That leaves us with only one opening on our <br />committee. <br />Molly Stein and Susie Deter have been reappointed by the commissioners for neew terms. <br />Activity reports for Apr, May and June are due to the Ombudsman by July 101h. Site visits are due by the end of <br />Sept, <br />
