Orange County Adult Care Community Advisory Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />November 17, 2016 <br />Meeting convened: <br />Meeting called to order at 3:40 pm at the Passmore Center in Hillsborough, NC by <br />Chairman, Max Mason. <br />Attendance: <br />Max Mason, Chair <br />Jack Vogt, Vice Chair <br />Deborah Stewart, Secretary <br />Debbie Rider, Member <br />Suzanne Haff, Member <br />Yvonne Mendenhall, Member <br />Gloria Brown, Member <br />Cresha Cianciolo, Member <br />William Lang, Member <br />Mary Fraser, Department on Aging <br />The absence of Beverly Foster is considered excused. <br />Review Minutes September 29, 2016 <br />Approved with minor edit. <br />Ombudsperson Report, Autumn Pittman <br />They are still interviewing for replacement for Carmelita. <br />Autumn will soon learn about and share the final Ombudsman rule on how new CAC members are <br />appointed. <br />Report from the Department on Aging, Mary Fraser <br />• New Senior Times was distributed. <br />• Main focus on new 5 year master aging plan — moving forward. Will have 5 work groups to <br />work on issues identified as needing development, expansion: <br />1- Housing (affordability, availability, quality, LTC facilities are considered in this area) <br />2- Transportation (via buses, walking safely, benches- accessibility) <br />3- Volunteerism and employment <br />4- Social participation and inclusion <br />5- Community and health services — Aging in Place <br />They are looking for participants and will be reaching out to government and agencies. <br />Each group will meet 5 times every other week between January and March for 2 hrs each. <br />Notify Mary if you are interested. <br />
