Orange County Adult Care Community Advisory Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />January 21, 2016 <br />Meeting convened: <br />Meeting called to order at 3:30 p. m. at the Central Orange Senior Center in <br />Hillsborough, N. C. by Chairman, Max Mason. <br />Attendance: <br />Max Mason, Chair <br />Jack Vogt, Vice Chair <br />Beverly Foster, Member <br />Deborah Rider, Member <br />Yvonne Mendenhall, Member <br />Suzanne Haff, Member <br />James Bartow, Member <br />Gloria Brown, Member <br />Will Lang, Prospective Member <br />Charlotte Terwilliger, Ombudsperson <br />Inas Al- Rawas, Ombudsperson in Training <br />Mary Fraser, County Department of Aging <br />Yvette Missri, County Department of Aging <br />Minutes, November 19, 2015 <br />Review and correction: Yvonne Mendenhall was in attendance at November 19 meeting. <br />With this correction, the minutes were approved. <br />Ombudsperson Report, Charlotte Terwilliger <br />Charlotte confirmed that she indeed is retiring! Her last day of work is January 29. Max <br />and other committee members commended Charlotte for her many years of outstanding <br />service to the committee and her work to improve assisted living and nursing home care <br />in Orange and other counties. Charlotte thanked the Committee members and <br />introduced her successor, Inas Al- Rawas. Inas is in training, and while that is occurring <br />over the next few months, Carmelita Karhoff, Durham County Ombudsperson, will be <br />available to help our Committee, serving as interim Ombudsperson for assisted living <br />facilities and family care homes in Orange County. <br />County Department of Aging Report, Mary Fraser. Mary discussed the following initiatives <br />of the County Department of Again <br />• The Department, with the support of the County Aging Advisory Committee, is once <br />again offering the Sharp Direct Care Service Awards. CNAs and other staff who directly <br />serve residents in assisted living and nursing facilities, family care homes, and in home <br />care in the county are eligible for the awards. This is the second year that the awards are <br />
