Animal Services Advisory Board (ASAB) <br />Approved Minutes for September 14, 2005, Meeting <br />Page 2 <br />Dangerous Dog Committee: Jean ConnerantLevine, Krist ine Bergstrand and Pat Sanford were <br />selected to serve on this committee. Bob Marotto will confirm wit h Dr. Schoppler that he is not <br />interested in participating on this committee rather than the Adoption Appeals Co mmittee. <br />Standing Committees: There was a discussio n of the responsibilit ies and procedures of the <br />Adoption Appeals and Dangerous Dog Committees. Available materials pertinent to each <br />committee will be reviewed and discussed at the next ASAB Meet ing. <br />2005 ASAB Calendar: Based upon the requirements of the Procedures, and taking into account <br />known scheduling conflicts and upcoming ho lidays, meetings were scheduled for October 26, <br />2005, and November 16 th , 2005. At the latter meeting, a 2006 meet ing calendar will be set as <br />required by the Operating Procedures. <br />Select Department Updates: Bob Marotto discussed these updates on the basis of his <br />memorandum dated September 14 th , 2005, regarding these updates. Joe Pulcinella provided a <br />detailed update on Animal Services coordination with Orange Count y Emergency Management <br />to provide assistance to pets belonging to victims of Hurricane Katrina. <br />General Discussion: At the end of the meet ing several items were discussed by those present. <br />These included whether oral rabies vaccine bait ing was being done in specific locales; whether <br />microchips were being offered at County lowcost rabies vaccination clinics; and efforts to <br />educate pet owners about the benefits of spaying and neutering their pet at County rabies clinics. <br />Meeting Adjourned about 9:15 p.m. <br />Next ASAB Meeting: Wednesday October 26, 2005, at 7:30 p.m. in the A/B room at Southern <br />Human Services Center.
