<br />Animal Services Advisory Board (ASAB) <br />Approved Minutes for January 17th, 2007 Meeting <br /> <br /> <br />Present ASAB Members: James Kramer, Kristine Bergstrand, Ross Oglesbee, DeWana <br />Anderson, Pat Sanford, Caroline Green, Bonnie Norwood, Moseys Carey, Tracy Carroll, Susan <br />Elmore and Jean Connerat Austin. <br /> <br />Absent ASAB Members: Daniel Textoris <br /> <br />Others in Attendance: Animal Services Director Bob Marotto, Animal Shelter Operations <br />Manager Jessica Allison, Animal Control Manager Irene Paul, and Administrative Assistant <br />Paula Ragan. <br /> <br />Public Members Present: Kindra Mammone of CLAWS , Inc., Susie Fisher, Tuc Fisher, <br />Lori Widener, Steve Stone, Mark Franczak, Marlee Franczak, Sarah Duffy, Vincent <br />Mammone, Kasha Mammone, and Dan Johnson <br /> <br />Welcome and Opening Comments—Vice-Chair of the ASAB Committee, Kristine Bergstrand <br /> <br />Motion was made by Ross Oglesbee and seconded by Moses Carey to approve the minutes dated <br />November 15, 2006. VOTE: Unanimous <br /> <br />Motion was made by Kristine Bergstrand and seconded by Moses Carey to approve the Agenda <br />dated January 17, 2007 with one change to move “ item e” (Amendment Ordinance Proposal- <br />“Keeping of Wild Animals Dangerous to Persons and Property”) to “item a” under Section 4 <br />Unfinished Business. VOTE: Unanimous <br /> <br />Unfinished Business-- <br /> <br />Amendment Ordinance Proposal- “Keeping of Wild Animals Dangerous to Persons and <br />Property”—Several people signed up and spoke in support of the proposed amendment <br />ordinance that Kindra Mammone, Executive Director, Claws, Inc, has proposed to the ASAB to <br />recommend to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). The speakers spoke on behalf of the <br />revised proposal and shared their experiences from volunteering, educational field trips, <br />explaining how their rehabilitation center operates and stressing the importance of rescues, <br />safety and education. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Pat Sanford and seconded by Ross Oglesbee to create a committee or task <br />force that will work with staff to gather information and decide what recommendation should be <br />made to the BOCC. VOTE: Unanimous. <br /> <br />The task force will consist of Pat Sanford, Bonnie Norwood, Ross Oglesbee, Susan Elmore and <br />Jean Connerat Austin. It was asked that the committee meet and come back to the ASAB with a <br />timeline, and also that it invite member of NC Legislative committee and others to speak to the <br />committee regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> <br />
