<br /> <br />FROM: Animal Services Advisory Board <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Monthly Meeting <br /> <br />DATE: Wednesday June 15, 2011 <br /> <br />LOCATION: Animal Services Center <br /> <br />____________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Kris Bergstrand, Sue Milliger, Aviva Scully, Susan Elmore, Dan Textoris, Lori <br />Lumpkin, Susan Elmore, Drew Brinkley, Bob Marotto, Jean Austin, Donna Bravo, Mike Stewart <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Suzanne Roy, Andy Uhl <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Bob Marotto, Drew Brinkley, Irene Phipps <br />____________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Beginning time of meeting: 6:30 pm <br /> <br />Old Business <br />• The agenda for tonight was unanimously adopted after changing the Partner Profile to earlier in <br />the evening. <br />• Minutes from May 18, 2011, meeting was unanimously approved. <br />• No member of the public was present to comment. <br /> <br />Topic A- Two new board members present <br />• At-large position, Mike Stewart, was welcomed, as was Donna Bravo. <br />• Lisa Woolman, DVM, declined the position offered for the Animal Advocacy position. <br />• Hillsborough position also still open. <br />• Mike Stewart volunteered to be on the dangerous dog committee and the ASAB so approved. <br />• New member orientation will be completed prior to next meeting in August <br /> <br />Topic B- Partner Profile- Coalition to Unchain Dogs <br />• President, Amanda Arrington, updated Board on general policies and practices used when <br />building fences for clients. <br />• To date 36 fenced yards have been built in Orange County and 29 families are on a wait list. <br />• Bob Marotto and the Board expressed concern about length of wait list and discussed with Ms <br />Arrington and Lori Hensley (Dir of Operations and Development) strategies to increase number of <br />volunteers to speed up the process. It was stressed that a point person is needed to lead, <br />coordinate and oversee activities in Orange County <br />• Overall, the Board is very pleased with the efforts of the Coalition, and looks forward to assisting <br />with increasing volunteers and finding a point person to run the program in Orange County. <br />• Next Partner Profile, Board unanimously approved inviting Paws4Ever to present at the August <br />meeting. <br /> <br />New Business <br />Topic A – Petsmart Welcome Wagon- Lori Lumpkin <br />• Reviewed the Welcome Wagon program for transporting dogs from the southeast to the northeast <br />for adoption. <br />Animal Services Advisory Board
