Potentially Dangerous Dog Appeals Committee <br />--Recent Determination: upheld declaration made for Don Davis’ dog “Holly” <br /> <br />Old Business: <br /> <br />Animal Identification Report (Draft): Suzanne asked for text describing ASAB <br />discussion of having microchip ID provided free with all adopted pets as a goal, <br />even though it is not financially feasible at this time. Member of public, Margaret <br />Heath, provided ASAB with copies of documents describing benefits of providing <br />ID for adopted pets. Bob’s draft with minor edits and Suzanne’s and Susan’s <br />comments was unanimously and the ASAB asked Kris Bergstrand, DVM, and <br />Susan Elmore, DVM, to approve final editing changes. <br /> <br />Cat Sheltering Update: <br />Deanna Rowan addressed the ASAB asking about the possibility of adding a cat <br />colony room to present shelter accommodations, citing the use of these by other <br />shelters. Animal Services staff stressed that there was a good rationale for not <br />having such colony rooms in the Animal Services Center; and also that the 3- <br />stage process of enhancing cat sheltering would was on a timetable of 18 to 24 <br />months. No other updates on cat caging at this time as the project is on hold <br />during busy kitten season. <br /> <br />Nuisance Animal Noise Committee Update <br />Next meeting: 6:30 - 8:00 p.m., June 26, plan is to decide on recommendation to <br />present to ASAB at August meeting. <br /> <br />Animal Recovery and Sterilization Committee Status Report <br />Meeting on July 7, plan to research other counties’ policies in order to provide <br />BOCC with proper context for request for change. <br /> <br />New Business: <br /> <br />Confirmed Rabies Cases YTD: 5 total (2 raccoons, 2 bats, 1 skunk) <br /> <br />Animal Services Update <br /> --FY1213 Budget: approved as submitted, spay/neuter funds increased to $75k. <br />Staff got modest raises (), and there are 3 staff vacancies at present. <br />--Open House: very with upwards of 200 people attending. <br /> <br />Ongoing and Upcoming Events <br />a. Adopt A Cat Month (June) <br />b. Rabies Clinic – Thursday, July 19, 1:00-4:00 p.m.. Animal Services Center <br />c. Volunteer Orientation – July 10- 5:30-7:15 p.m. / July 12 10:00-11:45 a.m. <br />Volunteer Training - July 14 – 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />Summary prepared and respectfully submitted by Kris Bergstrand. <br />
