look at the different County departments and see where their agency aligns. It’s also <br />important to sell the services that one’s agency provides. An agency has to be a <br />501(c)(3) in order to apply. The deadline for the applications is January 24th. About <br />two weeks after the deadline the advisory boards give precise feedback about the <br />applications related to their departments. Ms. Walton told us that there is funding in <br />the County budget to do some administrative capacity building for non-profits. They <br />just did a workshop in June that spoke to fundraising and performance <br />measurements and there is money in this year’s budget to hold another workshop. <br />Ms. Walton said that Third Sector Alliance is a collaborative of non-profits in Orange <br />County. They have a membership fee of $10 and are a good resource for folks in <br />non-profits that need more information about funding. <br /> <br />Bob agreed to put the information about the funding application process on the <br />Animal Services Facebook page and on the website and let folks know about the <br />dates that applications are released and are due back. <br />ASAB Affairs <br />• New ASAB Member - Bob introduced Virginia Fitt to the other Board members <br />• The applicants for the soon to be vacated position of animal advocate are Maureane <br />Hoffman and Molly Mullins. Suzanne Roy will be leaving the Board. <br />• Overview of ASAB – Michelle explained the purpose of the ASAB. Our purpose is to <br />advise the BOCC about policies relating to OCAS. Applicant introductions – The two <br />candidates for the position of Animal Advocate introduced themselves to ASAB <br />members. Maureane Hoffman and Molly Mullins shared their backgrounds in animal <br />advocacy and why they are interested on serving on the Board. <br />• Recent New Member Orientation – There was a new member orientation last week <br />that was attended by Virginia Fitt, Arthur Sprinczeles, Beth Grooms and Caroline <br />Green and it went very well. <br />Old Business <br />• Free Roaming Cat Task Force Update – Dewanna Anderson shared that the Task Force has <br />hosted various information sessions including meetings with veterinarians, education <br />groups, caretakers, and wildlife experts. Presently, the Task Force is putting all the <br />information together and drafting recommendations to present at the next ASAB meeting. <br />• Unified Animal Ordinance Update – The ASAB has made policy recommendations and the <br />County Attorneys are currently drafting language to capture those recommendations. When <br />the edits are done it will come back to the ASAB and then go back to the BOCC.
