GUIDELINES: Guidelines include federal, state and county regulations and county and <br />department policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection and <br />interpretation in application. <br />COMPLEXITY: The work consists of varied administrative, managerial and regulatory duties. <br />The number of and frequent changes in applicable regulations and the diversity and uniqueness <br />of interpreting policies and procedures to ensure compliancy contribute to the complexity of the <br />work. <br />SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to provide specialized support needed <br />for regulatory compliance to federal, state and county regulations, ordinances and policies <br />concentrated in the area of human resource management and related risk management areas <br />such as HIPAA, ADA and OSHA, Successful performance in this position ensures that County <br />ordinances and policies and procedures are in compliance with appropriate regulatory <br />requirements. <br />PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with officials from federal, state and local <br />government agencies; client groups; legislative staff members; research institution staff; special <br />interest groups; and private industry representatives. <br />PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to discuss County programs and <br />operations, give and exchange information, resolve problems, motivate or influence persons and <br />provide services. <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table. <br />WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed in an office. <br />SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: This position may serve as a team <br />leader directing studies, which are interdisciplinary in nature,. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: <br />o Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a <br />baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. <br />o Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the <br />subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the <br />division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related <br />experience. <br />Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of <br />North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. <br />
