The project completed a <br />site visit by the grant’s technical assistance team in July. <br /> <br />Master Aging Plan Updates <br />The Department has secured a five-member, senior capstone team through the Health Policy <br />and Management program within the UNC School of Public Health to help with the MAP <br />process over this academic year. Over the summer months, needs assessment data will be <br />collected through a community survey, focus groups and a series of key information interviews. <br />The first MAP Steering Committee meeting will be held on September 21st from 8:30-10:30am <br />at the Carol Woods Retirement Center. Members for the MAP steering Committee are being <br />recruited among County Department heads, town mayors and managers, healthcare <br />administrators, non-profit leaders and University experts. Two large Community Meetings will <br />be held in October to share information gathered over the summer and to help prioritize issues <br />to be studied through the winter. All Orange County residents interested in aging issues will be <br />invited to attend. One meeting will be held at the Seymour Center on October 26th from 9am- <br />noon and the other will be held at Passmore Center on October 28th from 1:30-4:30pm. <br /> <br />Committee Progress Reports if needed: <br />The Senior Tar Heel Legislature has new leadership and is requiring more accountability from its <br />delegates. The Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee is organizing to promote <br />absentee balloting in the facilities.
