<br /> <br />September 8, 2015 Committees Progress Reports submitted by Alex Castro Jr. <br />Chapel Hill Carrboro Meals on Wheels <br />A total of 3238 meals delivered in August 2015 versus 1697 in 2010. The Contingency Plan which <br />provides for continuation of operations under all conceivable scenarios was updated. The Project <br />Engage Senior Hunger SRT is working with OCIM the creation of a new route in the northeast (Caldwell) <br />part of the county. Volunteer drivers are needed. <br />Orange County Unified Transportation Board <br />Orange Public Transit (OPT) launched on Monday August 17 a new Orange – Chapel Hill Midday <br />Connector that expands service northward to Cedar Grove and go south as far as the UNC Hospital <br />complex on Manning Drive. There is hourly service (six trips) between 10 AM and 3 PM in each <br />direction. Two additional buses are en route and when commissioned in October, additional routes in <br />northern Orange County will be added. The Outboard voted not to charge seniors over 60 a fare of <br />$1.00 for fixed route service. <br />Music in My Mind <br />Update for September 8, 2015 <br /> <br />• Members of Project Engage, the Advisory Board, and staff met on August 10, 2015, to <br />review applications for the 2015 Long Term Care Quality Improvement Awards. The <br />reviewers were Yvonne Mendenhall, Teri Driscoll, Mary Fraser, Cheri Richmond, and <br />Donna Prather. <br />• The MIMM Users Group met on August 12, 2015. Agencies continue their efforts to <br />implement MIMM. Reports about the impact on care recipients continue to be positive. <br />• The Long Term Care Quality Improvement Awards for 2015 were presented at the Board <br />of County Commissioners meeting on September 1, 2015. The recipients were <br />o A Helping Hand <br />o Brookshire Senior Living <br />o LiveWell Assisted Living <br />o Right at Home <br />o Florence Gray Soltys Adult Day Health Program <br />o Carol Wood Retirement Community. <br />• The users group will continue to meet bimonthly as long as the agencies find it helpful. <br />The next meeting will be October 14, 2015, at 11:00 AM at the Seymour Center. <br />
