We also provided assistance to Chapel Hill as it developed a job <br />description, fm° an Economic Development O~cer, iadrich has a strong emphasis <br />on redevelopment and re-use of zaulerused and vacant properties. <br />F. Encourage mixed use projects that support walkable communities <br />Dm°ing 200.5-06, the EDC began looking at the potential of revising regzrlations <br />governing rural activity nodes to encourage more commercial activities within <br />walking or° biking distance of residential areas. Mor°e work will be completed on <br />this concept in the upcoming year <br />G. Promote public transportation, alternative modes of transportation, and <br />encourage car pooling and park and ride participation to reduce reliance on <br />single occupant vehicles <br />This activity has not beery a priority during the past year°, We will take it up in the <br />,year ahead, dovetailing with the County's effor°ts to reduce employee parking <br />downtown during the justice, facility corrstrrrction phase. <br />H.
