1 <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />ADVISORY BOARD ON AGING <br /> <br />Minutes <br />June 8, 2010 <br /> <br />PRESENT: Leo Allison, Heather Altman, Peggy Cohn, Mary Fraser, Steve Lackey, <br />Haryo Marsosudiro, Thelma Perkins, Fred Schroeder <br /> <br />EXCUSED: Jan Wassel, Jan Wells <br /> <br />STAFF: Kathie Kearns, Jerry Passmore, Al Terry, Janice Tyler <br /> <br />Chair Steve Lackey called the meeting to order at the Seymour Center. Corrections to the <br />May 11 minutes were requested by Heather Altman, Mary Fraser, and Steve Lackey. <br />Leo Allison made the motion and Fred Schroeder provided the second that the May <br />minutes be approved as corrected. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The Chair asked for review of the Advisory Board on Aging meeting schedule for Fiscal <br />Year 2010-2011. After a motion was made by Heather Altman and seconded by Leo <br />Allison the new meeting schedule was adopted. <br /> <br />Chairman Lackey asked Jerry Passmore to update the Advisory Board on the transfer of <br />the Orange Public Transportation Division to the Planning Department. Mr. Passmore <br />introduced Al Terry as the OPT Program Manager, who expressed his appreciation to Mr. <br />Passmore for his leadership in the transportation field. Mr. Passmore added that OPT is <br />scheduled to receive seven new buses this summer purchased with stimulus funds at no <br />cost to Orange County. He also outlined plans for a new Hillsborough In-Town Route. <br /> <br />Jerry Passmore noted that Fred Schroeder and Jan Wassel have both reached the end of <br />their second, three-year term as members of the Advisory Board. He asked for comments <br />from those members who had attended the Florence Gray Soltys Adult Day Health <br />Program naming ceremony. <br /> <br />Mr. Passmore announced that he has been meeting with the County Manager and <br />Assistant County Manager to discuss appointing an Interim Director for the Department <br />after his June 30 retirement. No decision has been announced at this time. He also stated <br />that the Board of County Commissioners will meet on June 10 to continue their study of <br />all BOCC-appointed committees. The continuing Aging Advisory Board members are as <br />follows: Allison, Altman, Cohn, Lackey, Marsosudiro, and Perkins. <br /> <br />Kathie Kearns distributed a summary of the outside revenue sources and amounts <br />proposed for Fiscal Year 2011. Jerry Passmore announced that the Town of Chapel Hill <br />Parks and Recreation Department’s budget, which included $50,000 for continued <br />support for the Seymour Senior Center Program Coordinator position, was approved the <br />previous evening. Janice Tyler announced that due to County budget cuts, the hours of
