2 <br />Mr. Passmore noted that the plans include using dishes and utensils instead of disposable <br />supplies. Jan Wassel referred to a university model project of similar design that she will <br />make available. <br /> <br />Jerry Passmore announced that Ann Johnson has called a meeting of the Legislative <br />Workgroup for February 9. A report of this activity will be made at the February 11 <br />Advisory Board meeting. The Orange County Legislative Forum, Chaired by <br />Commissioner Alice Gordon, will be held at the Seymour Center on February 23. <br /> <br />A summary of the new Nursing Home and Adult Care Home star rating system was <br />distributed. Regional Ombudsman Jill Passmore played a major role in the system <br />development and will be invited to attend the February Advisory Board meeting to <br />answer questions about the rating system. Adult Care Home Committee Chair Peggy <br />Cohn gave a brief explanation of the difference between the two types of homes and the <br />rating systems that are used for each. Also mentioned was the growing interest in <br />establishing a teaching nursing home facility in Orange County in conjunction with the <br />UNC Program on Aging. <br /> <br />Mr. Passmore announced that the Adult Day Health Program hoped to move into its new <br />space at the Central Orange Senior Center within the next week. The plans will allow the <br />program to move while only being closed for three days. <br /> <br />In Thelma Perkins absence, Chairman Lackey stated that the Friends of the Seymour <br />Center Board is continuing to standardize its process for reviewing requests for funding <br />of programs and activities. <br /> <br />Haryo Marsosudiro reported on behalf of the Friends of the Central Orange Senior Center <br />that plans are underway for the February 13 Las Vegas Night fundraiser. He listed the <br />large items at the new Senior Center that have been purchased by the Friends <br />organization. Jan Wassel suggested inviting corporate representatives to visit the new <br />facility in hopes of soliciting on-going financial. <br /> <br />Jerry Passmore informed the Board that an Orange County Facility Use Committee <br />Meeting was scheduled for Friday, January 16. The policies being developed will impact <br />all County facilities, including the two senior centers. <br /> <br />There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned and Board members were <br />invited to tour the new Central Orange Senior Center. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br />Jerry M.
